AgiLAB
Smart Manufacturing

An R&D environment dedicated to Industry 4.0

AgiLAB aims to emulate a scale Smart Factory production process, in order to help understand a whole range of innovative technologies intended for industry and especially for the manufacturing field.

Retrace the production process step-by-step and find out how AgiLAB’s technologies interconnect and work together to prepare and deliver a hot drink.

The drink you order – to be precise, one of four different types of tea – is then personally delivered to you by the AMR Jobot, our Autonomous Mobile Robot equipped with its fleet-management software. The drink will be accompanied by a personalised coaster marked with your name.

1
Using a tablet, you can select the desired drink and enter your data (name, e-mail, the name with which customise the coaster, and the desired delivery point)
2
In case that the system does not detect anomalies or shortages of raw materials, Agilab MES starts processing the order
3
Guided by the Artificial Vision System, the first Cartesian Robot (A) picks a coaster from the raw material warehouse containing the unprocessed coasters
4
The Anthropomorphic Robot - called CAM-Robot - interacts with Cartesian A, carrying out the handling missions necessary for moving the coaster from the Cartesian grip to the marking area
5
In the marking area, the CAM-Robot customises the piece following 3D fixed-angle 3D toolpaths, generated by our G-code interpreter software. Since each order is custom, the needed trajectories change every time
6
Our CAM-Robot interacts again with the Cartesian A, returning the personalized coaster, which will then be moved to the semi-finished materials warehouse
7
The CAM-Robot performs the Handling missions and Robot-to-Robot interactions necessary to grab the empty cup and moving it from the raw material warehouse up to the water tanks
8
The water-dosing phase is immediately followed by the heating phase: the Anthropomorphic Robot grabs the cup and carries it to the heating station, warming the liquid according to the recipe
9
The robot places the cup under the tank containing the right syrup to dose, thus transforming the water into the desired flavored drink; in the meantime, the Cartesian A picks up the correct customised coaster from the semi-finished product warehouse
10
The CAM-Robot brings the cup containing the drink towards the work area of Cartesian A, interacting with the latter to produce the finished product, i.e. covering the drink with its correct coaster to preserve the temperature until delivery
11
The CAM-Robot carries the finished product onto the Automatic Guided Robot, Jobot, placing it on one of the six tray slots. If Jobot is already carrying out a mission, the finished piece is brought by the Anthropomorphic Robot to the finished products warehouse
12
Loaded with the piece, Jobot goes to the delivery point (already chosen by the receiver when ordering) and then returns to AgiLAB once the mission is completed
